Looking in the Rearview Mirror
There were many long hours put into planning this experience. This idea formed a couple of years ago, and through EETT funding and the facilitators’ own professional
growth, the idea was refined and grew into an opportunity that is bigger than we ever
imagined. Not only did EETT fund this 2-day event, it also funded several conference opportunities that enabled us to grow professionally.
We know the traditional professional development model being used in our district is
sufficient as far as offering some valuable information and providing ways for
teachers to get hours. However, we also know that isn't good enough; and in order for PD to have a real effect in our district, it needs to be sustained, supported, and attached with accountability. We dreamed of designing something that would spark a change in our district and put into motion a paradigm shift that would have a meaningful, lasting impact on our teachers and students. And, I believe we have done just that.
